Musk’s SpaceX raises $250M in equity, up to $2B in 2022

by Elon Musk SpaceX raised $250 million in a fundraising round last month, the company disclosed in a securities filing on Friday. It has now raised $2 billion in 2022.

The filing does not specify the sources of the funds, but indicates that they come from five investors.

SpaceX did not disclose a change in its valuation. The company’s value has skyrocketed in recent years, with SpaceX raising billions to fund work on two capital-intensive projects – the next generation of Starship rocket and its Starlink global satellite Internet network. Its value hit $127 billion in its previous seed round in May, CNBC reported. This raise brought in $1.725 billion.

SpaceX is working on the next stage of Starship development – the first attempt to reach orbit. Earlier this week, Musk said on Twitter that a successful orbital flight “is probably between 1 and 12 months from now.”
