The income tax department has asked taxpayers to file their returns on time. The deadline to file the income tax return (ITR) for the 2021-22 fiscal year (AY 2022-23) without late fees is July 31, 2022 (unless extended by the government).

In a tweet, the IT department urged people to be early filers.

“ITR filing for AY 2022-23 is available on the e-filing portal. Check your Form 26AS, AIS and other relevant documents before submitting them. Be an early filer,” the Income Tax Department said. , adding the hashtag #FileNow.

The due date for ITR filing is the date when returns can be filed without any penalty.

In the case of companies, the deadline for filing the ITR is October 31 of the tax year (unless extended by the government).

Ms Singh told the PTI news agency that the number of tax filings in the last fiscal year was 7.14 crores compared to 6.9 crores in the previous fiscal year, showing a clear growth. .

For FY22, the tax collection is over Rs 14 lakh crore, which is quite good, compared to the collection for FY20, according to the President.
