Elvis Director Reveals Four Hour Biopic – Fans Won’t See It | Movies | Entertainment

Later this week, Luhrmann will release his biopic about the king of rock and roll: Elvis Presley. Simply titled ‘Elvis’, the epic film shows how the star rose to fame and flew too close to the sun before losing his life to drugs and alcohol.

But there is still more to the story to tell.

And Luhrmann captured plenty of footage that fans will likely never see. He has now revealed that he originally cut a “four hour” version of the film.

Luhrmann recently revealed he had to cut the film down to two hours and 30 minutes. “I would have liked to lean more into some of the other things,” he explained. “There is so much more.”

The Great Gatsby director revealed that this “Luhrmann cut” of the film includes more details about Elvis’ “relationship with the band” as well as key details about their exit from star training. He added: “It’s so interesting to see how the colonel gets rid of it.”

Additionally, the longer cut included other scenes with Elvis and his first girlfriend.

Elvis has had numerous girlfriends and romantic relationships over the years – all of which have been deleted from the Elvis biopic.

Luhrmann explained to Radio schedules how his longer cut of the movie included more details about his relationship with his first girlfriend, Dixie.

He also gave some details about the film’s traumatic ending. Luhrmann revealed: “And later, how…once he’s trapped and bewildered and doesn’t understand…someone who has such a hole in his heart like Elvis is constantly searching and searching for the love and finds it on stage but nowhere else.”

Previously, extended cuts were released on DVD and Blu-ray supplements. But some bigger projects, like Zack Snyder’s Justice League, have received new theatrical releases on streaming services and in theaters.

It’s likely that, if Elvis does well in just two and a half hours, a four-hour cut could reach viewers for the foreseeable future. But until any official announcement, fans will be left guessing.

Hours of content could be squeezed into the Elvis film, including his fall from grace in his later years in the 1970s. But one great person in his life was shockingly left out: Ann-Margret.

Elvis met Ann-Margret on the set of his movie Viva Las Vegas. The couple were involved in a passionate romance for over a year under the noses of Elvis’ longtime partner, Priscilla Presley. Eventually, however, the young woman found out. And she demanded that Elvis separate from Ann-Margret.

Elvis arrives at the cinema on Friday.
