With Season 2’s reveal regarding Reginald Hargreeves’ origin story, there are a few places that The Umbrella Academy season 3 could go. For those who haven’t read the comics, there are some burning questions about why Reginald came to Earth, if he’s a product of time travel, and how his origins will affect history. So far, The Umbrella Academy closely followed the comics about Reginald. However, the series is notorious for deviating from its source material, even with the advent of those appointed into the Sparrow Academy – who is only known in the comics as Sparrows and serves a very different function. But why did Reginald Hargreeves come to Earth? The series’ approach to this mystery will likely draw inspiration from the comics. Some people believe the Monocle is from a future Earth, and he traveled back in time to stop the apocalypse – which is why he started the Umbrella Academy in the first place. This could be supported by the fact that he started Sparrow Academy in their place, Five once created the Kugelblitz with his Time Paradox, and as a result, likely failed in his mission. However, it is doubtful that Reginald came from the future, and The Umbrella Academy The TV show will most likely stick to the comics on this one.
