Leapy Blinders! The stage is set for the sequel to Shelby | Theater | Entertainment

Rambert Dance’s new show, titled The Redemption of Thomas Shelby, begins in the trenches of the First World War. Steven wrote the story, a tragic love story between Grace and Peaky Blinders boss Tommy Shelby, starred in Cillian Murphy’s TV series.

Steven said: “What I would say to those who wouldn’t normally go to see dance is that the BBC’s most popular prime time Saturday show is a prom show. If you like Strictly, you’ll love this.”

He wrote the script the same way he would for television, but without dialogue.

“I started writing the way people move, what they do, then I gave the scripts to Benoit Swan Pouffer [the artistic director]. He performed it in such a fantastic way. I saw the rehearsals, it’s breathtaking.”

“When I see the fight scenes, I think they’re going to get hurt.”

Commenting on Peaky’s popularity, Steven, 63, describes him as the “gift that keeps on giving”, with a film set around World War II due to be filmed soon.

“It captured the imagination of people in so many different places – Buenos Aires, Rio, Eastern Europe too, especially Ukraine.”
