Mari Yamamoto Joins Legendary’s Untitled Monsterverse Series

With production on the upcoming series still underway, Mari Yamamotowho recently starred in Pachinkojoined Legendary’s Monsterverse and will appear in the franchise’s untitled TV spin-off for Apple TV+ in an undisclosed role, according to a report by Deadline.

Along with Yamamoto’s appearance in the series, previously announced cast members include Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight), Wyatt Russellwho played in Falcon and the Winter Soldier like John Walker, and Elisa Lasowski (by Somer Town). Anna Sawaiwho recently starred in F9will also be featured in the series with Ren Watabe (461 days of bento), Kiersey Clemons (Dope), and Joe Tippet (Easttown Mare). Specific details of the roles that all of the cast will play have not been revealed, with the show remaining under wraps as the series remains untitled.


While specific show details remain a mystery, the untitled series will be set after the events of the Battle of Godzilla in San Francisco and focuses on a family’s journey to uncover hidden secrets about monsters and their connection to Monarch, a secret organization that studies and hunts Titans. With the series, created by Chris Black and Matte FractionStill in production, more details about the series will likely be revealed as it gets closer to release.

The Monsterverse began in 2014 with the release of Godzilla which served as a reboot for the franchise. Due to its positive reception, the franchise expanded with the release of a King Kong solo film set in the same universe with the release of Kong: Skull Island which elicited similar reactions. A Godzilla sequel, titled Godzilla: King of the Monstersmade its way to theaters in 2019 to mixed reviews, but the Monsterverse came back stronger than ever in 2021 with the release of Godzilla vs. Kong which pitted the two titular titans against each other in their ultimate battle.

The franchise’s momentum isn’t slowing either as another movie is currently in production and will be released on March 15, 2024. Now that a live-action TV series is on the way, the world of titans continues to expand as than fans. speculate on which creatures, old and new, will return in the near future.
