Moving on to starters, there was the option to choose between octopus tentacles or arancine bolognese – of course I had to opt for the latter.

Although I enjoyed it, I couldn’t help but be curious about the octopus tentacles that my dining companion had chosen – after all, octopus is one of the main seafood delicacies in the kitchen. Mediterranean.

Washing down the starter with a glass of crisp white wine, the option for the main evening meal was a ribeye served with potato fondant, asparagus and red wine jus.

Dessert was a classic chocolate fondant served with vanilla ice cream – a perfect way to end the meal.

From the combination of a picturesque view, delicious food and customer service from the staff, it made for such a lovely perfect end to the day.

The next day the hotel had organized a day on a beautiful yacht which took us to three different places: Kalankka bay, otherwise known as Marsaxlokk, Il Ponta tal Griegal and St Thomas bay, munxar.

At each location I had the opportunity to swim and explore areas of the sea – the water was amazing in the 39 degree heat.
