Russia’s ‘obsolete weapons’ no match for Ukraine as 55% of forces ELIMINATED in Donbass | Science | New

With the conflict heavily concentrated in the Donbass region in and around the strategic industrial city of Severodonetsk, Ukraine has called on the West to provide additional weapons to defend the territory. Russia announced it had nearly captured the city as heavy shelling continued, however, the cost of the operation took its toll on Russian personnel, with many killed or injured in the conflict.

According to the latest Defense Ministry report: “Russian authorities have not released the total number of military casualties in Ukraine since March 25.

“However, the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) publishes figures on the losses of DPR forces.

“As of June 16, the DPR has recognized 2,128 soldiers killed in action, and 8,897 wounded, since the beginning of 2022.

“The DPR casualty rate is around 55% of its original strength, highlighting the extraordinary attrition that Russian and pro-Russian forces are experiencing in Donbass.

“It is highly likely that the DPR forces are equipped with obsolete weapons and equipment.

“On both sides, the ability to generate and deploy reserve units to the front is likely becoming increasingly critical to the outcome of the war.
