The Ivorian, who failed to live up to expectations in north London, is would have in talks with Nice over a season-long loan deal. Express Sport takes a look at four wide men who could take his place at the Emirates…

Yeremi Pino

What better way to add to Arsenal’s growing contingent of exciting young stars than to sign one of Spain’s most promising teenagers. Pino, 19, scored six goals and assisted four for Villarreal in La Liga last season and is already a Spain international in his own right.

Villarreal are believed to be keen to raise funds in the transfer market and Pino is one of their prized assets. Talk about a £34 million Arsenal’s offer could go up a notch ahead of the transfer deadline with the Yellow Submarine set to receive offers for around half of his release clause.

Cody Gakpo

The Gunners have been linked with Gakpo for what seems like forever, although currently it looks like Manchester United have the upper hand. The 23-year-old has already had a blistering start to the season with PSV, scoring twice in two league appearances under Ruud van Nistelrooy’s tutelage.

The Dutch outfit are believed to appreciate Gakpo at £35 million and, at 6ft 2in tall, he has the stature and versatility to feature on the front line. It could come in handy for Arteta if the injuries come later in the campaign.

Anthony Gordon

Chelsea and Newcastle United have already had a pop when signing Gordon this summer, but Everton have remained firm on their £50 million Evaluation. He is also believed to have admirers at Manchester United, but Arsenal could still throw the party.

His performances have impressed many, although his numbers haven’t and the 21-year-old has been promised a bright future. Gordon is most often used on the wing but has been forced to substitute through midfield so far this season due to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury absence.
