Vinesh wins gold medal in Commonwealth Games for the third time in a row

Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat won the gold medal in the women’s freestyle 53 kg Nordic category at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022. She defeated Chamodya Keshani Maduravalge Don of Sri Lanka at the Coventry Arena Wrestling Mat B on Saturday. Phogat won the gold medal match 4-0 via victory by fall. He clocked 2:24 seconds to win India’s second gold medal of the day at the Commonwealth Games.

Phogat dominated in the first period and did not allow his opponent to score. The Indian wrestler took a 4-0 lead in the first period by pinning his opponent and leaving the ring.

Earlier in the day, Indian wrestler Pooja Gehlot won a bronze medal in the women’s freestyle 50kg category. She defeated Christine Lemoffac Lechidzio of Scotland at Coventry Arena Wrestling Matt B on Saturday.

Ravi Kumar Dahiya, on the other hand, won the gold medal in the men’s freestyle 57kg category at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022.

He defeated Nigeria’s Abikevenimo Welson at the Coventry Arena Wrestling Mat B on Saturday. Dahiya won India’s tenth gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
