Liverpool: Sadio Mane names two stars who can replace him after exit – ‘Wow what a player’ | Soccer | sport

Sadio Mane named Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz as two players who will help fill the void at liverpool left behind by his move to Bayern Munich. Mane’s move to the German giants was confirmed on Wednesday afternoon with a touching 585-word statement from Liverpool paying tribute to the 30-year-old’s “six brilliant seasons” with the club.

The Reds wrote: “Of his 269 appearances for the club, Mane has registered 120 goals, 38 assists and countless smiles and memories. A devastatingly efficient player with an infectious personality, he will rightly remain the one of the finest strikers in Liverpool’s illustrious history.”

Mane – a Champions League and Premier League winner at Anfield and who won both domestic cups last season – joins Bundesliga champions Bayern on a three-year deal in a potentially worth up to £35 million. And he gave a long interview to discuss his exit from Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp has already replaced the Senegalese wide man in the squad this summer with Darwin Nunez, the Uruguayan striker signed from Benfica in a deal that could reach a record £85million. And Liverpool also signed Luis Diaz from Porto in January for £37m with a further £12m added, and he’s produced six goals and five assists in 26 appearances.

Mane believes Diaz and Jota, who scored 21 goals and provided eight assists in his second season on Merseyside last season, can help fill the void he will leave behind. It was then that he discussed his iconic bond with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, two teammates with whom he developed a tremendous relationship on the pitch under Klopp.

salah said Liverpool official website: “Wow, of course, Bobby and Mo – what players! I think there are no other secrets because playing alongside these great players, they make it easier for me.

“I think I’m just supporting that and especially Bobby, who always let down and made room for me and Mo, I think that was just amazing. Those two players, Liverpool always have great players. And you now have Diogo and Diaz too – wow, what a player they have!

“But that’s normal, they’re the best club in the world, so I wish them all the best. But for me, football is always about dedication and very, very hard work. That’s what I have confidence and these players have done it and are doing it, so I think it will always work out well for them.”

Mane also vowed to be “Liverpool’s No.1 fan” at Bayern and added: “After every game of mine in Munich I will come into the dressing room and watch Liverpool for sure because I will to be Liverpool’s No. 1. 1 fan forever.

“I just want to tell them good luck [the Liverpool players] and I have an eye on them. And for sure they will be even better because I know the boys: great players, great talent, great maturity and great attitude, so of course Liverpool will always be even better, that’s for sure.”
