Man Utd want to book three more medicals with Casemiro set for Old Trafford transfer | Soccer | sport

Manchester United are set to sign Casemiro from real Madrid, with the Brazil international set to move to Old Trafford in a whopping £60m deal. A medical for the player has reportedly been drawn up with the Red Devils hoping he can play against liverpool In Monday. And the club want three more stars to follow the same routine before the transfer window closes on September 1.

Manchester United have spent most of the summer chasing a deal with Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, with Erik ten Hag hoping to reunite with his former Ajax pupil.

However, with the Dutch international reluctant to move to Old Trafford, it now looks like Casemiro will arrive instead.

United sent a group to Spain to negotiate with Real Madrid earlier in the week, with a £60m deal now agreed between the two gambling giants.

Casemiro is ready to travel to Manchester for a medical, with the 30-year-old excited by the prospect of a new Premier League challenge – even if it means giving up Champions League football for a year.

And he is not the last player United want to see tested before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

While the club are also hoping to sign a new substitute goalkeeper, right-back and striker, the Red Devils want Casemiro’s medical to be just the start.

At right-back, the Red Devils are ready to release Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams as they look for an upgrade.

Wan-Bissaka could join Crystal Palace, while Williams’ exit could be just a loan move with not enough permanent suitors at present.

Thomas Meunier is a potential option, having played at the highest level for a long time. Borussia Dortmund are also said to be open to a sale.

And United have been tipped to land Barcelona star Sergino Dest, the United States international formerly playing under Ten Hag at Ajax.

United also want to book a medical for a new striker by the time the transfer window closes early next month.

It emerged on Thursday that they had seen a huge offer for Antony turned down, with Ajax determined to avoid losing another great player this summer.

And they can now pursue Cody Gakpo as a result, despite the fact that PSV Eindhoven would hate to lose their prized asset.

United have also been linked with a shock move for Jamie Vardy, but the England international is believed to prefer to stay at Leicester amid talks over a new contract.

For now, the club are focused on getting Casemiro medical as soon as possible.

And he is set to become their fourth summer signing after Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen.

Meanwhile, speaking recently, former Liverpool and Stoke star Charlie Adam criticized United’s board for not supporting Ten Hag enough.

“Ten Hag only has two weeks to settle everything because there is only one person who will lose his job and it’s not the players,” he told Betfred.

“He has a big decision to make, if he wants to get rid of Ronaldo the club has to give him a solution to do that.

“I don’t believe Ronaldo is the only problem, there is more to it.

“Ten Hag has not been supported in the same way Manchester United should be supporting their manager.

“They should have spent £200-300m this window, had clearance and prepared to compete. They didn’t do that.
