The board said in a statement on Saturday that the Medical Advisory Committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board has advised Afridi to rest for 4-6 weeks. PCB’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Najibullah Soumro, said, “I have spoken to Shaheen and he is deeply disturbed by this news, but he is a brave young man who vowed to return strongly to serve his country and team. Is.”

The 22-year-old was part of Pakistan’s squad for the ongoing ODI series in the Netherlands but did not play the first two matches.

“While he has made progress during his rehabilitation at Rotterdam, it is now clear that he will need more time and is likely to return to competitive cricket in October,” Sumro said.


Pakistan is yet to announce the replacement of Shaheen Afridi in their Asia Cup squad.

Pakistan will start their campaign against arch-rivals India in Dubai on August 28.
