Stefanos Tsitsipas’ father insulted after Schwartzman’s ‘diatribe’ at referee | Tennis | sport

This is certainly not the first instance of Tsitsipas’ side causing a stir with their tactics and in-game conversations.

Last January, Daniil Medvedev accused Tsitsipas’ father of coaching him from his box – ironically in Greek on that occasion. The Russian’s complaint was heard by chair umpire Eva Asderaki-Moore, who chose to sit under the 24-year-old’s box so she could listen to their exchanges.

2019 ATP Finals winner Tsitsipas was later forced to deny claims he split from his father after bringing in former pro Thomas Enqvist to join his coaching staff, at the middle calls for him to consider parting ways with his mentor, who has guided him for the entirety of his career.

He will face American veteran John Isner, who is not seeded for the tournament, in the last eight. Schwartzman, meanwhile, will continue his preparations for the US Open after his exit, with the final Grand Slam of the year starting on August 29.
