We wouldn’t normally advocate for joining a cult, but it appears that one cute little lamb has made it hard for many folks to resist. Developer Massive Monster has shared that its devilish roguelike/management sim hybrid Cult of the Lamb has surpassed one million players since its release last week.
The news was announced on the game’s official Twitter account (below) where Massive Monster thanked players for their devotion and promised that it’s working on “improving the game with tweaks, fixes and free major content updates.”
The tweet didn’t share further details regarding individual system sales, but news of the game’s impressive milestone isn’t entirely surprising, as it has remained a big seller across all platforms since its release.
The Lamb has blessed 1 MILLION players in our first week!
We are eternally grateful for your devotion and our team is committed to improving the game with tweaks, fixes and free major content updates.
This is only the beginning as there’s so much room for this Cult to grow! pic.twitter.com/sj44I8Ufp3

Despite overwhelmingly positive reception, Cult of the Lamb has seen quite a few bugs, ranging from minor to game-breaking, so it’s great to hear the team acknowledge the need for fixes alongside the excitement. The reveal of upcoming free content updates is also promising, and though no specifics were shared, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect things like new decoration options, an expanded arsenal, and fresh quests to tackle.
Cult of the Lamb combines the management of Animal Crossing with the dangerous roguelike expeditions of Hades for a unique and compelling experience – and judging by the first week sales, that combination seems to have paid off. In our review, we said “Cult of the Lamb is as adorable as it is unsettling, an eclectic mix of genres and themes that come together extremely well.”
