WhatsApp adds ability to show status updates in chat list for some Android beta testers: report

The new feature is supposed to allow users to click on a contact’s display image in the chat list to view the status update. The report also pointed out that the new feature can be disabled by disabling all status updates.

According to a report by WhatsApp features tracker WABetainfo, the instant messaging platform has released beta version of WhatsApp for Android version 2.22.18.17 to some beta testers. In the new beta, WhatsApp would have added the ability for users to view status updates from their contacts in the chat list.

Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp would allow users to click on a contact’s display image to directly view their status updates in their chat list. The report also mentions that this feature can be disabled by disabling all status updates in the WhatsApp app for Android. According to the report, the feature may be rolling out to more beta testers in the coming weeks. The beta version mentioned above is also expected to be released for iOS in the future, the report adds. WhatsApp has yet to officially announce the release schedule for this feature.
