Zomato co-founder Mohit Gupta leaves the company

Indian food aggregator Zomato announced on Friday that its co-founder, Mohit Gupta, had quit. The news comes days after the online food delivery platform reported a reduction in its consolidated net loss to Rs. 250.8 crores for the second quarter ended September 2022. Meanwhile, the consolidated net loss of the company stood at Rs. 434.9 crore in the period a year ago. However, the reason for Mohit Gupta’s resignation is still unclear.

Gupta is credited with building Zomatofrom scratch and served as the segment’s Managing Director before being elevated to Co-Founder in May 2020.

Gupta said in a letter to the company that he was resigning to pursue “unknown adventures.”

His resignation follows that of the company’s deputy chief financial officer, Nitin Savara, who resigned in August.

Zomato reported a small second-quarter loss last week as its online order volumes and value increased.
