Biden tests negative after second Covid fight

Biden will continue to self-isolate while awaiting a second negative test “with great caution.” (Case)

Washington:

US President Joe Biden tested negative for Covid-19 on Saturday, days after contracting a second episode of the disease.

“The president continues to feel very well,” Biden’s doctor, Kevin O’Connor, said in a statement. “This morning his SARS-CoV-2 antigen test was negative.”

Biden, who at 79 is the oldest person to hold the US presidency, has been in quarantine since last week, having tested positive for the virus following an initial recovery in what is being called a case of “bounce”.

O’Connor said Biden would continue to self-isolate while awaiting a second negative test “with great caution.”

According to Biden’s official calendar, he is scheduled to travel to the southern state of Kentucky on Monday, the scene of devastating floods.
