Blaenffos pond tragedy as four-year-old boy is found dead after disappearing from his home | United Kingdom | New

Ifan Owen-Jones, from Pembrokeshire, Wales, was just four years old when he was pronounced dead earlier this month. Emergency services were called on August 7 after he disappeared while playing in a garden sandbox.

The young boy was found in a natural pond some distance from the family home.

Ifan had two older brothers and a younger brother.

His family released a moving statement saying they “adored” him.

They are now raising funds to cover the young boy’s funeral costs.

His family wrote on a GoFundMe campaign: “Ifan was a happy, healthy four-year-old boy who was diagnosed with autism, but with the help in place he was enjoying life to the fullest!

“He loved fire engines and the color blue, he had two older brothers and a younger brother who adored him.

“On August 7, their lives changed forever when Ifan suffered a tragic accident and lost his life.

He was unconscious and pronounced dead at 8:40 p.m.

Hayley Rogers of the coroner’s office, quoted in The Sun, said: “It has been established that Ifan was heard playing in a sandbox near the family home.

“When Ifan could not be seen, a search of the premises ensued and he was found unconscious in a natural pond.

“Despite all efforts to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead at 8:40 p.m.

“Police have launched a full investigation, with inquiries ongoing.”

Coroner Gareth Lewis has adjourned the hearing until a date can be set, according to reports.
