Energy bills help: A cheap tip to help households save £1,290 this winter | Science | New

Britons are currently reeling from the worst impacts of a global fossil fuel crisis, with analysts warning that by October household energy bills could hit £3,300 a year. Wholesale gas prices have skyrocketed over the past year, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Ofgem has warned that due to the increased price cap, millions of families are now facing fuel poverty.

With this in mind, experts from Unbeatable blinds claimed that by replacing your usual blinds or curtains with thermal blinds, households can stay warm and save up to 40% on their heating bills once winter arrives.

With research firm Cornwall Insight predicting that the energy price cap is set to rise to £3,244 a year in October, thermal blinds could save up to £1,290 a month.

Unbeatable Blinds note that in addition to keeping heat from escaping during the winter, thermal blinds can also help keep you cool during the summer.

The company’s experts said: “Finding the right thermal blind for you and using it correctly can significantly reduce the cost of those ever-increasing energy bills.

“Thermal blinds are designed to provide incredible temperature control all year round.”

During the winter months, these blinds act as a layer of insulation and prevent cold air from entering the home.

However, they are still practical in the summer, as they can reflect heat and sunlight, keeping your home cool.

Experts noted: “Aluminium-clad blinds with honeycomb pockets are particularly good at regulating temperature because they trap air inside.
