The troops of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) complained of “threats, blackmail, intimidation and deception” to force them to fight, it was reported. They also complained that they were invited to fight in the neighboring pro-separatist state, the Donetsk People’s Republic (CMA).
And this despite the fact that they had succeeded in defending the LPR against the Ukrainian forces.
A statement read by one of the fighters criticized LPR leaders who had promised the troops that victory would be achieved by early July.
He said: “We servicemen of the Mobilization Reserve Battalion 2740 refuse to go to fight in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
“We have fulfilled our duty to defend the Lugansk People’s Republic.
“Victory Day was proclaimed by the Head of the Republic on July 3, 2022.
“With threats, blackmail, intimidation and lies, they are now trying to force us into DPR territory.
It comes as the Kremlin was forced to withdraw helicopters and planes from Crimea after a series of explosions rocked Russian bases in the region in recent days.
Ukrainian intelligence sources claimed that 24 fighter jets and bombers as well as 14 helicopters were moved to other parts of the peninsula or to mainland Russia.
“Such activity was noted after a series of explosions at military infrastructure on the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula, including at Saki and Gvardiyske airfields.”
According to Ukraine, three Su-34s, five Su-27s and three other aircraft returned to Russia from Belbek airfield in Crimea.
They also claimed that six Ka-27 helicopters along with eight others also fled the airfields.
Russia is also believed to have lost at least ten fighter jets in the attack on Saki airfield when it was hit last Tuesday.
The attacks on Crimea demonstrated Russia’s vulnerabilities and Ukraine’s ability to strike territory controlled by Moscow.
